Cryogenic Testing

  • With experience in testing valves at cryogenic temperatures

  • The picture shows the cryogenic testing of a butterfly valve at –196 °C in liquid nitrogen

  • This is what happens just after the valve is removed from the tank of liquid nitrogen

  • Condensation starts to freeze on the outside making a thick layer if ice

  • This is the final stage of testing letting the valve warm up back to ambient temperature

  • When this is achieved the final test can begin, for the seat and gland packing

  • All being well a test certificate can be issued
