Cryogenic Testing
With experience in testing valves at cryogenic temperatures
The picture shows the cryogenic testing of a butterfly valve at –196 °C in liquid nitrogen
This is what happens just after the valve is removed from the tank of liquid nitrogen
Condensation starts to freeze on the outside making a thick layer if ice
This is the final stage of testing letting the valve warm up back to ambient temperature
When this is achieved the final test can begin, for the seat and gland packing
All being well a test certificate can be issued
