Mezzanine Floors
Mezzanine floor designed initially for storage on top and offices underneath. It had a built-in lift, which was expensive, and the floor load was high. This meant larger section beams and columns and heavier floor plates.
The alternative was to put the offices on top and have storage underneath. The result was a far lower load resulting in lighter section beams and the use of lighter floor material, a saving of 10K on a lift and more load storage underneath. Access to the storage was only by pallet truck so head room was minimised. A lot less than required for a forklift.
The office was from prefabricated cells bought off the shelf, with some modifications to fit the roof line of the building. Saving more money.
